Dawe apologises for word, not “passion”

During the Sport Aurora debate at the Legion this past week, I used a term in response to some particularly vile comments that some members of the audience found offensive and I wish to offer my apologies for that.
However, I do not apologize for being passionate in defense against un-truths, half-truths and innuendos directed against the Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament, and the volunteers who give freely of their time and make it such a success.
To level baseless accusations against an event that generates much-needed revenue for our community groups (this year over $66,000) is “politics” at its ugliest and speaks volumes about those making them.
