Claims over tourney “unfounded, misleading, unprofessional”At last Wednesday's Sport Aurora All-Candidates meeting, what started out as being a reasonably well-intentioned question and answer period, ended up being a tongue lashing by John Gallo claiming that the Mayor‘s Golf Tournament, organized by VOLUNTEERS was non-transparent. Nothing could be further from the truth, and the toxic environment that exists in this campaign has once again been fuelled by John Gallo's attempt to cast aspersions that are unfounded, misleading and unprofessional. This year's Mayor's Golf Tournament raised slightly over $66,000. ($170,000. during Mayor Dawe's term of 4 years) and donations were made to the following organizations: ABLE Network Aurora Historical Society Aurora Sports Hall of Fame Aurora United Church Belinda's Place Big Brothers Big Sisters of York CHATS – Community Home Assistance to Seniors Doane House Hospice Hollandview Retirement Community Hospice King Aurora Marquee Theatrical Productions Queen's York Rangers 2799 Army Cadet Corp. Safehaven Project for Community Living Welcome Table Women's Centre of York Region York Region Children's Fund Mayor Geoff Dawe's strong commitment to the improvement of our community by his honesty and selfless attitude is not deserving of this type of criticism, especially in light of so many organizations' having benefited from this event.
