Congratulations to all for this election

I would like to thank all of the candidates for putting their names forward for Council.
I know, running for council myself in the past, how difficult it can be and will be.
Most of the candidates have been above board and have said what they will do, rather than running down their opponents. Personally, I have only had three candidates campaigning on my street, John Gallo, Wendy Gaertner and Jim Abram.
I would like to say that John Gallo has run a great campaign with an amazing vision.
He managed this vision by meeting with thousands of Aurora residents and listening to what they said. He is the only candidate for mayor in years who actually asked you, the residents, what you felt Aurora needed. His platform is not made of promises that cannot be kept, like Mr. Dawe made last year.
Mr. Dawe promised to get Council’s hands out of your pockets but instead we had to dig deeper as he managed four more tax increases during his four year term.
He also led most of his council to vote for two very overpriced projects, the new public works building on Industrial Parkway and the renovation of the original Leisure Complex.
Not only did they cost more than what we required but to add insult to injury they are also well over budget. In my opinion we cannot survive another four years of Mr. Dawe and the extravagant tastes that Aurora cannot afford.
