Reader had deja-vu reading candidate’s platform

October 15, 2014   ·   0 Comments

We learned at the all-candidates meeting that The Town of Aurora has a strategic plan that was formulated in June 2012, based on input from residents. It’s a plan that sets out certain parameters how to achieve a town where we can live, work and play and what Aurora may look like in 2031. This plan was approved by all the Councillors in 2012.
John Gallo’s election platform “Imagine Aurora 2030” has very close similarities to the Town’s plan. I do not recall seeing on his 10 point ad any mention or acknowledgment that his ideas were derived from the Town’s plan.
Plagiarism is the “wrongful appropriation” and “stealing and publication” of another author’s “language, thoughts, ideas or expressions” and the representation of them as one’s own original work.
Decide for yourself.
