Mayoral candidate’s facebook promo was “arrogant”

April 23, 2014   ·   0 Comments

Here we are in April, and already the bull-cookies are ramping up on the Aurora municipal election scene. Specifically, the Mayoral bid by Councillor Gallo.
He had launched a facebook page titled “Mayor Gallo”, complete with the tagline “New Mayor, Better Town”, and the announcement of an election fundraiser with entertainment provided by St Kitts music. However, after he posted, he had received a number of complaints and has since changed the page name to “Gallo for Mayor”.
However, his fundraiser remains promoted as “Mayor Gallo”.
For a Councillor to refer to himself as “Mayor” is, at the very least, misleading and in my opinion, arrogant, ego-driven and impudent, assuming the role is already his.
Referring to his campaign, his website uses words and phrases like “transparency”, “respectful”, “lead by example”, and “mindful of due process”. I would argue that falsely promoting and referring to himself as Mayor before the people have made their choice is neither respectful nor mindful of due process.
And if this is leading by example, then I wonder who’s setting that example?
