Aurora unlikely university town

(Re: University expansion into region a top priority, March 27)

I hope the town of Aurora is not spending any money to put together this proposal.
While it would be convenient to have a university in Aurora, it is highly unlikely that York Region will be considered under-serviced in terms of University accessibility.
Aurora is a 30 minute train ride to York University, and a 55 minute train ride to downtown Toronto, making Ryerson University and the University of Toronto also accessible.
In an era of cutting funding to post-secondary education, building new schools for already serviced areas seems highly unlikely.
If the town has concerns about university accessibility for its residents, we may be better served by efforts aimed at improved winter GO Train and Bus service to the existing universities.
