Newmarket welcomed St. Kitts for festival

August 14, 2013   ·   1 Comments

Newmarket, unlike Aurora, welcomed the Jazz+ Festival with open arms. Despite the soggy start on Friday, the weather for the balance of the weekend was superb. The three-day event was a huge success with an estimated 9,000 – 10,000 people attending.
George and Sher St. Kitts deserve an overwhelming round of applause for organizing such a high energy, professional venue which featured top-level local artists.
The Town of Newmarket treated the St. Kitts with respect, encouragement and provided the support they so richly deserved. Plans are underway for a bigger and better 2014 festival.
Unfortunately, some small-minded and short-sighted politicians in Aurora just don’t, or won’t, accept the tremendous loss to our community in both reputation and prestige – and all because of the ill-advised and highly questionable decision to allow perimeter fencing in Town Park.
What a shame!
We certainly will remember in the next election.

Once again – enough already! We are glad that you enjoyed the Newmarket Festival but leave the Aurora bashing out of it. The only thing you are accomplishing here is making the St. Kitts look badly. It is as though they have forced their supporters to write in these types of letters which really is quite pathetic. The Aurora Festival came and went and there were not ill mannered letters written saying anythign derogatory about how it was so much better without the St. Kitts involvment – we just enjoyed it for waht it was. Move on for god sakes – it’s just a Music Festival – they did’nt find a cure for a mjpor illness they ran an event! Some perspective here please …..
