Grateful students thank late teacher

Olive Louise Komar passed away on June 23, 2013.
Mrs. Komar taught in Pine Orchard, Aurora Public School, Wells Street Public School and Aurora Senior Public School during her long career.
As former students of Mrs. Komar during the late 50's and early 60's at Wells Street Public School, we would like to acknowledge her influence on us and express our gratitude.
Although many decades ago, we still have fond memories of Grade 4.
She recognized our talents, encouraged us to meet her expectations, firmly admonished us when we strayed and praised our accomplishments both big and small.
The classroom contained wood desks in fixed rows, books, art supplies, pencils and paper. She taught lessons from material written on the blackboard in beautiful cursive script. Her love of art and literacy was apparent in the creativity and presentation of all her lessons.
Each report card contained marks for literature and reading, composition, spelling, writing, math, social studies, natural science, health, arts and crafts, physical education, supplementary reading, and memory work as well as insightful hand written remarks (definitely read me clearly).
Our progress in habits (posture, neatness), industry (time management), co-operation (in class, works and plays well with other children), courtesy, obedience and general conduct was also graded.
Thank you for lessons well learned.

Your grateful Wells Street students
