The month of June has been a very busy month, with our AGM, commencing of the BBQ season, many of our Seniors competing and participating in various activities, construction of two Bocce Courts, installing new flooring in the West/McKenzie Hall.

Your Seniors Centre
is really buzzing!

Our thanks to Mayor Geoffrey Dawe for being our guest-chef on the BBQ on Wednesday, June 12 and all the volunteers who assisted.

Aurora Street Festival
This was a very successful event for ASA. We had three booths and without the help of our event chair, Barbara Stoeckin, and our dedicated volunteers, Winnie, Kathi, Shirley D, Shirley M, Carol, Judy, Stella, Barbara, Neilly & Charles, we sold approximately $700 worth of items from Knotty Knitters, woodshop, Jewellery, and sewing. A big thank you from all of us.

Aurora Food Bank Drive
Our weekly collection at the Seniors’ Centre will no longer be available and will be replaced by periodic seasonal food drives. Volunteers will be required to drop off at the Aurora Branch.

The Auroran’s Senior Scape
Sylvia Dickens who was co-writing her bi-weekly column with Jim Abram has resigned due to personal commitments. We are looking for any member that would like to write this Senior Scape column bi-weekly with Jim. We thank Sylvia for her contribution and wish her much success in her future endeavours.

Evergreen Choral Celebration
After a very successful Choral Celebration event, members of the choir gathered together for a potluck supper and invited some visitors to join them for dessert and coffee .The reason the visitors were attending was that when all the bills for the Choral Celebration had been paid, they had some money left over. Your Evergreen Choir Committee proposed to the ASA Board of Directors that this money be shared four ways. The Board recently approved our recommendations, as follows:
$350 be donated to the Aurora United Church RISE AND SHINE Program
$250 be donated to CHATS
$250 be donated to the WELCOMING ARMS program.
The balance to be retained by ASA for use by the Evergreen Choir for expenses.
Milestone Birthdays
Congratulations to Allen Griffiths who will be celebrating 100 years next month and to Nan McLean, Priscilla Hull and Kay Hack who have and will be celebrating 90 years –May and August.
