The Aurora Panthers are back in the Provincial Women’s Hockey League postseason.
The organization’s senior squad picked up six points over the final seven games of the regular season to squeeze back into the playoffs, after missing out on the big dance this time last year.
Quite the accomplishment for a team that finished eleven points out of the race in the 2017-18 season.
Led by team-leading scorer Lauren Dabrowski and the goaltending tandem of Caroline Pietroski and Hannah Murphy, the Panthers will face off against the second-ranked Waterloo Rangers in the opening round, a team that won 25 games over its 38-game regular season schedule.
Game one of the best-of-five series goes Saturday at the famed Auditorium in Kitchener, while Game Two swings back to the Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex in Aurora for a Sunday afternoon matinee. Puck drop is set for 1:45.
