Aurora was all over the podium at the Toronto Aeros annual invitational tournament, earning silver in both the PeeWee A and Atom AA divisions.
The Atom Tigers roared into competition on Friday with an 8 – 2 win over Richmond Hill, followed up by their only loss of the round robin to Gloucester later that evening.
A 2 – 2 tie with Forest Hill the next morning and a 3 – 0 shutout of the hometown Toronto Aeros set up a semifinal date with the Toronto Wolverines, who Aurora handily defeated 4 – 2 on Sunday.
That set up another meeting with Gloucester in the championship game, who maintained their perfect record by shutting out the Tigers 2 – 0.
The PeeWee As met a tough hometown Aeros team in their opening game, coming away with a 1 – 1 tie, before cruising through the rest of the round robin with three straight wins over the East Enders, Toronto Shamrocks, and York Mills, giving up just one goal along the way.
The semifinals had Aurora matched up against the similarly-undefeated Toronto Titans, with Aurora earning a championship berth by way of a 2 – 1 victory.
Having allowed just three goals throughout the tournament, it was Burlington that came away with the victory, a 3 – 1 game to give Aurora their second silver medal of the tournament.
