Tigers team up with OHL’s Barrie Colts

By Jake Courtepatte

If the OHL's Barrie Colts are the show ponies, the Aurora Tigers organization has become the stable.
The OJHL's Tigers officially signed an affiliation agreement with the major junior club on Thursday, a partnership that was last seen in the 1990s.
Colts General Manager and Head Scout Jason Ford said his organization is “very pleased” to connect with the Tigers.
“They have been a first-class Tier II program,” said Ford.” They are highly regarded around hockey circles for developing players, and we're happy to get into a working relationship with their staff.
Tigers General Manager Dermot Anderson echoed his sentiments, citing they are “extremely excited” to get going with “one of the elite organizations in major junior hockey.”
“Jason and I have communicated well from the beginning of the season and we look forward to helping and working hard to make this affiliation a tremendous success.”
The affiliation will allow the two squads to share resources among staff and players, as well as keep an open communication between executives. The ultimate goal of the affiliation for the Tigers, as quoted in a press release, is “to provide our players with the opportunity to reach the next stage of their young hockey careers.”
