Silver Stars Present Ebenezer Scrooge
The Silver Stars ensemble cast will be performing this play on Saturday, December 16 and Sunday, December 17. Both performances are matinees starting at 2 p.m., so mark your calendars and plan on going to one of the shows.
The Silver Stars started back into rehearsals in September for their next play “Ebenezer Scrooge”. Yes that is old, crusty Scrooge. It is the day before Christmas in London, England in the year 1844.
At the beginning, Scrooge is a cold-hearted miser who despises Christmas. Dickens describes him thus: “The cold within him froze his old features, nipped his pointed nose, shriveled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his thin lips blue; and spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice.”
You’ll want to come to the Aurora Seniors’ Centre to get your ticket when they go on sale on Wednesday, November 1, so that you can see how the story will end! The script is based on a radio play written by Walter Hackett. The play “Ebenezer Scrooge” is a fun adaptation of the more commonly known play, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. This ever popular adaptation features talented acting, music and dance and is sure to be enjoyed by all!

Holiday Bazaar
On Saturday, November 4, be certain not to miss the Fall Holiday Bazaar at the Aurora Seniors’ Centre from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Bazaar features local vendors, the very popular bake sale, silent auction items, an art sale and coffee shop to mention a few of the many things going on that day.
If nothing else, be sure to come and browse and shop for the hidden treasures you are sure to find! Meet friends and socialize and find out more from the great volunteers at the Aurora Seniors Association throughout the day.

Monthly Indoor Walking Club
As the fall weather gets less predictable and as the threat of snow and ice hinders the outdoor walking club’s navigability, the indoor monthly walking club is becoming more and more popular.
Members of the Aurora Seniors’ Association are all welcome to join us at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex once a month (every third Thursday essentially: Please refer to the “Fun After” Association Bulletin which can be obtained by emailing asa@auroraSeniors.ca). The walking track is FREE!
We have healthy snacks provided by Chartwell Retirement Residences and a fitness professional from Club Aurora Fitness on site to answer all your “Get Started” fitness questions.
Some months will also feature a healthy living seminar. Group stretching instruction is also available. Don’t worry about your walking issues if you use a walker you are welcome to use your cane or walker as you see fit. Please wear appropriate footwear.

Seniors Trips Continue Throughout the Year
Don’t miss out on the upcoming trip to the Simcoe Christmas Panorama on December 7. This tour begins at The Dutch Mill, which is a unique and inviting experience.
Visit the Garden Centre or browse over 15,000 square feet of store for unique gifts, special treasures, beautifully handcrafted furniture and accessories. Next, we’re off to The Apple Place, known for their delicious apple pies. After The Apple Place, we will have a traditional Christmas Turkey Dinner with all the trimmings at the Erie Beach Hotel in Port Dover.
Our dinner will be followed by a tour of the Simcoe Christmas Panorama with over 65 displays and 130,000 lights. See the newsletter for more details.
As 2017 nears a close, we look forward to 2018! It is a real pleasure to share with you the many activities, special events and camaraderie and spirit that the Aurora Seniors’ Centre offers to our active agers! Keep active, and most importantly, keep safe and healthy!
