Long time resident, former Citizen of the Year, will miss Aurora

This is a letter of thanks to Aurora.
Next month will mark the 55th year since our family moved to Aurora.
I have moved to Toronto to be closer to my family.
I want to thank Aurora for so many things: the wonderful, loyal patients in Wilf's dental practice who made going to work every day a pleasure for both of us; the friends that we made over these many years who offered us support when we needed it, like when our office burned down in 1972 and when we lost Bruce and Wilf. However, those friends also provided a whole lot of fun.
I have such great memories: the schools that Heather and Bruce attended; the many friends that they made that made their lives exciting and meaningful; all of the organizations in which I participated that taught me so much and gave me great pleasure.
I think especially of Trinity Church where we became parishioners in 1961. That church family became such a central part of our lives. I am so grateful.
I will be living in an apartment in a seniors' facility close to where my daughter, Heather, and my daughter-in-law Benita and her family live.
As difficult as it is, it was simply time to move on but Aurora is the place that shaped me and I will miss it.
