A thank you to the Aurora Minor Hockey Association

January 20, 2016   ·   0 Comments

Christmas can be a very challenging time of year for those who are struggling economically, spiritually and/or socially. The Aurora Minor Hockey Association recognized this and “skated” in to help out.
26 teams from the Aurora Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) went out of their way to make sure that this Christmas would be an amazing experience for 20 families in need by providing a mountain of gifts, toiletries, tasty treats, non-perishable food items and gift cards. These young hockey players actually did the shopping for their donations! They truly understand what it means to contribute time, talent and treasure to those less fortunate than themselves.
In addition, York Simcoe Hockey coaches provided a donation of 120 unwrapped toys to Welcoming Arms. These toys will make “wishes come true” for so many children in the area.
We’d like to send out a huge thank-you to Elena N. from the AHMA, who initially approached Welcoming Arms in September to ask how the AMHA could support our organization and then spent countless hours organizing and coordinating this incredible Christmas project.
Welcoming Arms is honoured to have worked with the AMHA and York Simcoe Hockey to support this most wonderful outpouring of generosity, caring, commitment and love.
Thank you for caring about your community and making a difference!

Julie Cruickshank
Executive Director, Welcoming Arms
