“Instruments of war” should not be at Cenotaph: Reader

Democracy allows for expression of opposite points of view, possibly the result one’s own life experiences.
Placement of a war machine near the Cenotaph is wrong. It is not justified within the Cenotaph’s intent and one’s perception.
Aurora’s memorial is there to remember and honor the lives of our fallen brave, not to relive instruments of war. Flowers were planted this year; plant more flowers near or around the base; the open field should be developed to grow more plants and trees, with benches in a park-like setting where one can sit in quiet contemplation.
When we spend, at various intervals during the year, quiet times in remembrance of our fallen soldiers, we look at our cenotaph, with their names, as the symbol of peace gained by their sacrifices. A cloak of solemnness always prevails there. We are thinking back at what was, could or would have been, but without having to be face to face with an instrument of war. It should be objects of peace that should be visible around our cenotaph, the ultimate objective of those who gave their lives.
