Highland redevelopment offers opportunity for wisdom: reader

This is an open letter to the Town of Aurora and to the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
I am writing about the proposed Geranium/ClubLink development of the Highland Gate Golf Course in Aurora and I am writing to you as a member of the Oak Ridges Trail Association and of the York -Simcoe Naturalists.
We know that development happens.
It should happen with wisdom, foresight and courage.
I would like to be assured that the Town of Aurora and the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority are taking very proactive stances in the development of this property for the following reasons:

1. The wetlands around the various branches of Tannery Creek need to be enhanced and, in some cases, reclaimed.
2. This is an excellent opportunity for both of your organizations to develop your park and trail systems in Aurora, the Lake Simcoe water shed and on the Oak Ridges Moraine.

Such an investment on your parts would be a positive environmental influence and would add immensely to the quality of life of York Region’s citizens. What a glorious opportunity for innovation, creativity and environmental responsibility! Don’t let it slip through your fingers.
