View from a taxpayers’ hot seat

(Re: View from Queen’s Park, April 10)

When you want to, temporarily, blind people, shine a very bright light in their eyes, then they will not notice the rubble behind the person shining the light.
Such is Mr. Ballard’s (MPP) View from Queen’s Park.
When he states that the government was elected for its commitment to take a balanced and thoughtful approach to governing, it could not have been from a financial perspective.
We are facing another over $10 billion deficit, a continuation of various previous $10 billion deficits started under Dalton McGuinty, which will accumulate by 2017-2018 into an overall debt of $235 Billion, which, with any increase in the interest rate, will become a virtual unbearable burden on the taxpayers and will gobble up a good portion of future budgets in just paying the interest.
A continued “apres nous le deluge” (read tsunami) is the prevailing attitude of this government; we are heading for serious financial difficulties, not to mention bankruptcy.
